About 70% of Earth's surface is covered by oceans—that sure does make for a lot to study! You could easily argue that the planet should be called "Water" instead of "Earth"! Ocean sciences covers a huge area, including everything from microscopic phytoplankton to global weather patterns. If you live near the coast, you can do a science fair project on tide pools or an estuary. If you live far from the ocean, you can use data from buoys or satellites and do an ocean-related science fair project without even getting wet!
